As per the data at WR office, a total of 1.67 crore passengers travelled with valid tickets in AC local trains in the same period.
The Western Railway’s Mumbai division has collected Rs 1.22 crore as fine from ticketless AC local travellers in six months between January and June this year.
The AC local trains run on the suburban line between Churchgate and Virar.
As per the data at WR office, a total of 1.67 crore passengers travelled with valid tickets in AC local trains in the same period. The railways organised several intensive ticket checking drives from April to June this year, thereby recovering an amount to the tune of Rs 50.83 crore (both long distance trains and local trains, etc). Of this, Rs 13.26 crore fine was collected from both AC and non-AC Mumbai Suburban section.
The WR runs 79 AC local train services between Churchgate and Virar with availability of six trains and on average the services see 90 lakh ridership daily.
