Dhole, known to be a close aide of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, served with him when the latter was a minister in the Devendra Fadnavis government.
The commissioner of Mumbai’s neighbouring Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation Dilip Dhole was transferred Wednesday after he was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in an alleged multi-thousand crore Urban Land Ceiling Regulation scam in the Thane district.
Dhole will be replaced by Sanjay Katkar, an IAS officer of the 2014 batch. Katkar was earlier the joint managing director of the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO). Kailas Shinde will replace Katkar.
Dhole, known to be a close aide of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, served with him when the latter was a minister in the Devendra Fadnavis government.
The officer was served with the ED summons earlier this week. Sources said Dhole did not appear after the summons was issued citing medical reasons and is likely to be served a second one soon.
The alleged scam involves the violation of the Urban Land Ceiling Regulation (ULCR) Act by builders. The builder allegedly avoided surrendering excess land to the government by offering bribes and using fake documents.
