Mumbai experienced a significant temperature drop, with the Santacruz observatory recording 16.5°C on Thursday night. This is the lowest November temperature in eight years, as confirmed by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Previously, the Santacruz observatory reported a record low of 16.3°C on November 11, 2016. This observatory primarily tracks weather conditions in Mumbai’s suburban areas.
In contrast, the Colaba observatory, which monitors the island city, recorded a minimum temperature of 21.4°C during the same period. This highlights the varying weather conditions across Mumbai.
Despite the notable drop, IMD scientist Sushma Nair clarified that no cold wave alerts are in place for Maharashtra. The temperature is expected to increase in the coming days.
Mumbai’s unusual November chill offers a glimpse of rare cooler weather, bringing temporary relief before temperatures rise again.
