Mumbai News Live Updates: Pawar’s reaction came after he met with Kapil Sibal, Digvijaya Singh, and other opposition leaders in New Delhi
Mumbai- NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Friday said Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification as a Lok Sabha MP has dented the Indian democracy and that it was high time all like-minded parties unite in solidarity to fight for the rights of democracy. His reaction came after Pawar met with Kapil Sibal, Digvijaya Singh, and other opposition leaders in New Delhi. Gandhi’s disqualification came a day after being convicted in a defamation case and sentenced to two years in jail over his 2019 remark about thieves with the surname Modi.
Chaos broke out in the Maharashtra Assembly as Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from his position. Several leaders of the ruling Shiv Sena and BJP were seen hitting the Wayanad MP’s poster with shoes, claiming that he insulted Hindutva ideologue V D Savarkar and disrespected India on foreign soil.
Opposition leaders from Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) on Thursday described the BMC demolishing an alleged illegal construction in the sea near Mahim Dargah a “scripted show to give credit to (MNS chief) Raj Thackeray”. Speaking to mediapersons, Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray said, “The construction was not new and even before Raj Thackeray, the issue had been raised by MLAs from other parties as well as MLAs and councilors of his own party. “
