The swearing-in ceremony for the new United States Ambassador to Dushanbe, Manuel P. Micaller Jr., took place today, February 14, at the US State Department in Washington, DC.
As noted in a post on the diplomatic mission’s Facebook page, “the new ambassador has almost 30 years of experience as a diplomat and deep experience in Central Asia, he is quite competent in leading and strengthening US-Tajik relations.”
Manuel P. Micaller Jr. succeeded John Mark Pommersheim, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Tajikistan, who was appointed U.S. Ambassador to Dushanbe in early 2019.
Prior to that, Pommersheim served as Deputy Head of the US Embassy in Astana (2015-2018).
Manuel P. Micaller, Jr. has previously served in the US Embassies in Nepal, Mongolia, Morocco, and Tajikistan, and held a senior State Department position.
